This week in IB Math AA HL, I explored integration, a powerful mathematical tool often described as the reverse of differentiation. We learned how integration helps us calculate areas under curves, total accumulated quantities, and more. Starting with basic rules like the power rule and constants, we delved into the Fundamental Theorem of Calculus, which connects differentiation and integration beautifully. The highlight was applying integration to real-world problems, such as finding the area between curves, which brought a new layer of meaning to graphs. While setting up integrals for word problems was initially challenging, practice helped me see the elegance of breaking down infinite sums into manageable results. This introduction has sparked my curiosity to explore more advanced techniques and applications in the coming weeks!
